Neighborhood Hirakata

part 1. Surroundings near the Kansaigaidai University campus

This is a view of Hirakata from Kansaigaidai University. As we can see in this picture, there are no tall or big building. Here is a residential area especially near the campus. According to what I've seen, many houses are here. Some of them are Japanese style and some are apartments. Since here is the residential area, many supermarkets are here. They are located close to each other. There are five supermarkets and just minites from where I live.  Here is really quite town. I have not heard of any noisy sound since this January.

Part 2. Surroundings near the Hirakata station
Here is the center of Hirakata city so comparatively, the area near Hirakata station is lively.  Just like the pictures I took, people gather together and do something. I could't really get to know what the old people was doing. At the station, young people gathered and practiced dancing. Also, some young people was singing and playing guitar.  It seems like this place is very important for the community.

Part 3. Transportations

Mostly, people use three transportations. One is train and another is bus. Also, almost all people here own their bikes. At the Hirakata station, Keihan line is available. Also, there are many bus lines going to different ways. Interesting thing is there are many foreigners on the buses or trains because Kansai gaidai University has many foreign students. And it seemed like people got used to seeing them. One of the most often used transportation is a bike. Bike racks are everywhere and I see many people riding bikes everyday. They always use bikes even though it's rainy day. Some women even can take their children in their back seat while holding other stuff.

 Part 4. Food

I took some pictures of food which is well known here. First, I took a picture of beer. Many Japanese brand seemed to be popular. It was very interesting that they had really small size of beer. And, the second and third pictures are the pictures of the famous sushi restaurant. Many family customers go to this place to eat outside. Sushi plates go through the chain and people can pick up whatever they want to eat.  If someone orders a specific menu. The small train delievers the food to exact table. The last one is the picture of sweet. It is on the Hirakata station building. People made a  long line for this sweet. All these places seemed famous places among the community.

  1. This seems to be a broad overview of Hirakata-shi rather than a specific look at your own neighborhood.
